Описание к видео FEMA's Risk Map Process - PLAN Webinar recording from October 17, 2024

Join OPD Principal Planner Sarah Thunberg to learn about FEMA’s latest mapping projects and what to expect as your community receives new floodplain maps.
Floodplains are dynamic and constantly changing. As development occurs and weather patterns change, so does the floodplain. FEMA routinely updates the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) approximately every decade and is currently in the process of remapping New Hampshire’s floodplains. This process takes approximately 5 years and entails surveying rivers, modeling floodwaters, reviewing and revising maps with community officials. As preliminary maps are released, communities will be contacted by OPD to review their floodplain ordinances to ensure compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program.
