Movie: 'Spider-Man 2'
Music: Shinedown - "Call Me"

I decided to make this video in (literally) memory of the Sam Raimi 'Spider-Man' franchise. If you haven't heard the news, Sony has decided to make a reboot, instead of going through with the fourth movie (which was going to star the returning Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, but also added to the cast was John Malkovich as The Vulture; I'm guessing that he MAY be on-board for the reboot, considering it's a fresh start).

I'm not offended by this news, not at all. I personally believed that 'Spider-Man 3' was the perfect book-end to the trilogy. To have gone on to making a fourth installment would either meant:

a) Greater book-end for the fans of the previous installments.

b) Two or three more additional installments.

or

c) Absolute studio-takeover of the project (a.k.a. what happened with 'Spider-Man 3'). And trust me, with the rumours going around about how bad the script was for the fourth installment. I'm glad that Raimi walked away and instead has decided to take-on the 'World of Warcraft' movie.

However, the only thing that upsets me about this reboot is that it's said to be a "dark and serious" movie (alike 'The Dark Knight', the source has said). This, no good. If they're planning on doing this, there's no way in hell I'm ever going to support this new reboot (or "reboot trilogy", apparently). I know that some of you may feel like this is a step in the right direction. But, think about it... They're making this movie "gritty and serious" for the money. For the marketability of it as a whole. They want it to look epic. They don't care about whether or not it's a good movie. They just want the trailers to have loads of action to put the butts in the seats. [Not to mention, they're making this film for $80M. Apart from making a great fourth installment, with Raimi and the cast in creative-control, for approximately $300M; where the Raimi franchise has earned approximately $1B worldwide for each single movie released, not including DVD sales.]

I haven't seen the movie yet, for sure. Let alone a trailer. But, I'm worried. I've been a fan of Spider-Man ever since I was born. I slept on Spider-Man pillows. I had a mountain of Spider-Man comic-books that I adored. I even had a plastic-head of Spider-Man that used to be filled with bubble-gum. I love Spider-Man and the Raimi movies satisfied my need of Spidey in everyway, shape or form.

However, something I love more than the Raimi 'Spider-Man' movies now are the first and second seasons of 'The Spectacular Spider-Man'. Boy, what a great show. Reminds me of the 'B:TAS' cartoons from the 90s. So faithful, yet so original. All in one. 'The Spectacular Spider-Man' made me wake-up and realize exactly what I wanted from a 'Spider-Man' movie. What that is, I can't explain. It's just something you have to experience for yourself to know for sure. And everytime I experience it, again and again I dream of the day where I could either see more episodes or a whole new franchise of movies, simular to the charm of the show.

Maybe loving that show so much was my downfall of faith in this upcoming reboot. When I heard that they were bringing Peter back to high school again, I immediately thought of 'The Spectacular Spider-Man'. But, it looks like they may be going in the complete opposite direction of where I expected them to go.

And that's why I'm not so excited for this reboot.

If they want to look at 'The Dark Knight' and say "we want to be like that". You ain't gonna find me wasting my time with this franchise.

Great. Good. Okay. Mediocre. I don't care. It's not what I want to see from Spider-Man.
