British Army’s new ARCHER in the field!

Watch the British Army’s new Archer self propelled howitzer on the move in the field. Also featuring is the AS90, the vehicle the Archer will be temporarily replacing.

The Archer was procured as an ‘interim solution’, in place of AS90s which have been donated. 14 Archer have currently been obtained, but with the possibility of a further 10. The permanent replacement for AS90 has been selected as the German Boxer RCH155 system.

The Archer is a Swedish Self Propelled Howitzer with a fully automated 155mm gun. The system sits on a modified 6x6 Volvo A30D articulated hauler. The vehicle features an armoured cab for crew protection, and an ‘M151 Protector’ remote controlled weapon station above the cab.
