Sharing knowledge and celebrating CAN: On April 12, 2018, Grameen Foundation hosted a conference at the Bayleaf Hotel Intramuros, Manila, Philippines, to share lessons from its Community Agent Network (CAN) program and convene leaders across the technology and finance sectors to share their insights for advancing the Philippine’s national goal of financial inclusion.

Grameen launched the CAN Program in 2015, funded by J.P. Morgan and Tomberg Family Philanthropies. Collaboration with financial technology providers Action.Able, Inc. and FSG Technology Ventures Inc. delivered digital financial solutions improving the resilience of the financially underserved by building a last-mile agent network. It delivers financial services through a digital transactions system in a secure, convenient and cost-effective way. By May 2018, CAN had over 2,200 agents, the majority women, catering to 423 barangays/villages. Top-up load, e-money transfers, bills payment, banking and insurance as well as entertainment vouchers are the top five services availed by CAN clients.
