Picture this: I'm sitting with my wife and family, and we've got some friends over. We're talking about work when they start discussing one of their devices that stopped working. Immediately, my mind goes into troubleshooting mode. I started asking questions, and I remember that I asked a barrage of questions. One of the gentlemen said, "I don't understand, Daniel, how do you know so much about electronics or mechanical things and how they work? It's like you're able to just look at it and really figure it out."
I thought, "Okay, this would be kind of an interesting topic to talk about." So, I went through where I learned my background and how I learned. They said, "Don't you do a YouTube? It'd be a great video." So, this is actually a recommendation from that friend. I'm curious to see what all of you think, so feel free to leave a comment.
What I wanted to do was use a guide, a book that I've had for about three weeks. I got it at an estate sale for a dollar. I'm going to use this book as a guide to talk about certain things that I've learned, certain things that I did well, and certain things that I didn't. Maybe a couple of stories from my background, so it's a bit personal. It talks about my journey of how I became an electrical engineer, how I work in IT security and systems, and IT in general. Also, how I fix everything around the house that I possibly can, with the exception of a few things. We'll talk through that. Hopefully, if you're kind of in the same boat, grew up the same way, figuring things out yourself, it will bring back some memories for you. Hopefully, there'll be something that you can learn. Again, feel free to leave some comments, give me your feedback, and share some of the things that you've learned as you were growing up.
Because for me, I'm constantly learning. I'm constantly finding out I'm wrong all the time. As much as I don't like it, I constantly find out I have to do that to move forward. So, it is what it is, and that's really the best way to advance forward, get to work with new things, and develop some new things.
