Covered Calls is an options strategy that can be a perfect entry into the world of options trading for beginners.

In today’s video I will take you through what a covered call actually is, and sell a covered call live here on the video.

First, let’s start off with what a Covered Call IS.

So let’s say you buy a 2nd house that you don’t plan to live in. Your goal is to eventually sell that house for a profit as the value goes up over time.

Would you leave the house empty and just wait for the market to rise up to where you want to sell?

Probably not. You likely will rent it out to someone to generate income in the meantime.

Well, if you are going to do this with a house, why not do this with the stocks that you own?

That is what a covered call can do for you!

If you have 100 Shares of any Stock or ETF, you can earn additional income on them, if you plan on holding them for a long time. Of course, there is a RISK with doing this that may result in you having to sell your shares, but we will cover that as we go through the video today.

Let’s go over some of the requirements as they are a bit different than real estate:
1. You MUST Own 100 Shares of a Stock or ETF before you sell a covered call.
2. You should consider tax laws for where you live as this likely will be income that you’ll need to report on your taxes
3. Pick an expiration date far enough in advance so that we can generate the monthly income.

So for today’s example let’s look at the Webull platform. I’m going to use both the Desktop and the App version of Webull so you can see how this is done either way.
