Bombarde Music at the Berry Festival of Traditional Musics

Описание к видео Bombarde Music at the Berry Festival of Traditional Musics

This instrument comes from Brittany, Western France. Ancestor of the double reed present day Oboe. Usually played in couple with the Brittany Bagpipe called Biniou. The Bombarde plays half the time of the Biniou because playing continuously would make the player breathless as it is exhausting. The Bombarde has a very powerful sound ( the name comes from the Bombarde - a 14th century cannon shooting stone cannonballs ) The instrument on this video is a " modern " version and has got several metal keys allowing to play on more than the only usual octave. A diatonic accordion replaces the regular Biniou Bagpipe.
