Using 3D Tabs in Vectric Software – Part 10 – 3D Carving for Beginners

In this video, I’ll show you how to use 3D Tabs for carving 3D models in VCarve and Aspire software. I’ll show you how I created a simple 3D model using the 3D Clipart Library, and some of the problems you can have when you go to carve the model. Then I’ll add 3D Tabs to the model from the Clipart Library, and array them so that the model is held firmly in position. Then we’ll calculate toolpaths and preview the result.

Finally I’ll show you how to use the same technique to create 3D Tabs in a 2-Sided project that uses 3 separate 3D models.

Along the way, I’ll also show you some critical things to watch out for when preparing the Profile Cutout, and how to avoid cutting through your neat looking 3D tabs. Please note that I made a mistake in the Profile Cutout toolpath, that I correct in the Live Q&A linked below. Oops...
