Pooling Under Downspout
Here are signs to look out for to identify water pooling under downspout:
• Check for water collecting at the base of the downspout
• Look for erosion on the ground around the downspout which can pose a threat to homes and yards
How to Solve It
When you have a few trees overhanging the roof, use the Downspout Defender® Grate together with a low-profile adapter or catch basin and filter. If there are no trees hanging over the roof, use the downspout adapter with an overflow cleanout.

Standing Water on Lawn
What to look out for to identify standing water in your lawn:
• Check for signs of yellowing turf such as a fade in color and no longer looking lush green
• Is there a musty smell? A funky odor can indicate fungus, disease, or decay
• See if the turf is thinning; grass may have trouble growing roots and start showing gaps in dirt
How to Solve It
Install area drains with round or square grates to collect water. Use a Flo-Well® dry well to temporarily detain and infiltrate water back into the soil.

Flooded Flowerbeds
Signs to keep an eye out for to identify flooding in flowerbeds:
• Check for yellow or dying plants; waterlogged soil can deprive plant roots of oxygen and plants will show signs of stress
• Is there a musty smell? A funky odor can indicate fungus, disease, or decay
• Look for lingering water; standing water will remain more than 24 hours after a rain event
How to Solve It
Collect water in a catch basin with an atrium grate and convey water downstream with pipe to discharge it with a pop-up emitter.

Water Encroaching on Home
What to look out for to identify water encroaching on your home:
• Is your basement damp? Groundwater isn’t draining away and is seeping through the foundation walls or floor
• Check for oversaturated surroundings; warning signs can include water stains, damps spots, and erosion
• Look for structural damage; excess water adds pressure to the foundation and leads to a variety of serious problems
How to Solve It

Standing Water on Hardscapes
How to identify standing water on hardscapes:
• Look for stained and slippery surfaces; mold and mildew growth can create safety hazards
• See if there’s an accumulation of debris; mud, silt, and debris can build up in low points of the hardscape
• Is there structural damage? Cracks in the hardscape can widen over time, leading to costly repairs
How to Solve It
Install a channel drain to intercept and collect water, convey with drain pipe, and direct water to a discharge point downstream.
