Why have many pro-Palestinian activists remained silent about the Iran protests and the Iranian government crackdown? This question has been raised repeatedly by Iranian dissidents, and in this video I offer a critical and honest breakdown of the issue.

Using a clip from Piers Morgan Uncensored featuring British-Iranian comedian Omid Djalili, I examine a moment where he recounts Iranian football fans chanting at a security officer waving a pro-Palestine flag. While Djalili appears to present this as evidence that pro-Palestinian activists should support Iranian protest movements, I argue that it actually highlights the opposite.

In this video, I explain why many human rights and pro-Palestinian activists are skeptical or disengaged from certain Iranian opposition movements, especially those based outside Iran. These movements have, for years, taken openly pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian positions, with some activists:

Attending pro-Israel demonstrations

Given this history, I argue that it is not surprising that activists focused on Palestinian liberation and universal human rights are reluctant to rally behind protest movements that openly oppose those same principles.

I also fact-check and debunk a claim made by Omid Djalili that the IRGC charter calls for killing all Jews everywhere. Using ChatGPT and primary sources, I show why this claim is inaccurate and how such misinformation undermines serious criticism of the Iranian regime.
