The Conquest of Khyber took place in 7 AH (628–629 CE) when the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ led the Muslims toward the fortified oasis of Khyber, located north of Madinah. The region was inhabited by strong Jewish tribes who had formed alliances against the Muslims and posed a continuous threat to the Islamic state.

Khyber was famous for its powerful forts and strong defenses, making the battle challenging. The Muslims faced resistance from heavily fortified strongholds, but through courage, strategy, and faith, they gradually captured the forts one by one. A historic moment occurred when Hazrat Ali (RA) was given the flag of Islam and successfully led the attack that resulted in the فتح (victory) of the final and strongest fort.

The victory of Khyber strengthened the Muslim community politically and economically, ensured peace around Madinah, and demonstrated unity, bravery, and trust in Allah. The conquest also showed the Prophet’s ﷺ mercy and justice, as peaceful agreements were made with the inhabitants after the victory rather than revenge or destruction.

This event remains an important example of faith, leadership, and perseverance in Islamic history.
