साखर पुरणपोळी बनवण्यासाठी लागणारे साहित्य
• १ कप चणा डाळ

With Holi round the corner, puran poli is a must. We already have seen 2-3 recipes of puran poli. Also we have seen the recipes of katachi amti that is served with puran poli. Today’s puran poli recipe is a little different as we are using sugar in place of gudh in this recipe. It is very easy and simple recipe. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Ingredients:
• 1 cup Chana dal
• 3 cups Water
• 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp Oil
• 1 cup Wheat flour
• 1 cup Maida
• 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• Water
• Oil
• 1 cup Sugar
• Cardamom powder
• Nutmeg powder
• Ghee

Method:
• Wash chana dal 2-3 times really good with water and soak it in water overnight or at least 6-7
hours.
• Transfer the soaked dal along with water into cooker.
• Add turmeric powder and mix well.
• Add oil so that dal won’t over flow.
• Close the lid and cook on medium heat until 4-5 whistles.
• Take wheat flour into a dish.
• Add maida, turmeric powder, salt and mix dry ingredients well.
• You can use only wheat flour or only maida. But 2 cups flour is required for 1 cup chana dal.
• Add a little water at a time and knead soft dough.
• Add oil and knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it doesn’t stick to hand.
• Transfer the dough into a bowl and spread a little oil on it.
• Cover and rest it for at least an hour.
• Open the cooker and check if dal is cooked well.
• Strain all the excess water from it into a pot.
• You can make katachi amti from this water.
• Mash the cooked dal well with masher.
• Add sugar and mix well. Cook puran on medium heat for about 7-8 minutes until it thickens up
and comes together like dough.
• When the puran is almost cooked, turn off the gas.
• It is a little soft now but as time passes it will thicken up. So keep the consistency of puran a
little soft only.
• Let the puran cool down completely.
• Add cardamom powder and mix well.
• Puran for making puran poli is all ready.
• Take the dough and take a small portion from it.
• Dip it in dry flour and make it smooth and even.
• Make pari from it that is thick at the center.
• Fill puran in the pari and close it up.
• Dip the ball again in dry flour and pat it with hand carefully.
• Roll it into thin poli carefully.
• Heat up a pan on medium heat.
• Transfer the rolled poli on it and roast well from lower side.
• When lower side is roasted flip the poli over and roast another side also well.
• Spread ghee on upper side and flip the poli over.
• Spread ghee on other side too and roast well.
• When poli is roasted well from both sides take it off into a dish.
• Sakhar puran poli is all ready.
• You can make around 7-8 puran poli from the proportion we used.
