Welcome back to the channel on today’s video. I’ve been called out to a customer’s house who has some plumbing issues that they’re worried about. We have a waste pipe which is attached to flexible connections and it’s pulled to the trap down lower so that’s ready to pop off and those flexible connections have allowed it to drop. The plumbing of the hot and cold to the taps inside the sink unit look like it’s been done by a complete DIY or landlord to me as the joints are covered in PTFE type there is so many different joints copper brass and plastic and we have some valves on the bottom shelf, which I’ve never seen before.

These pipes are hot and cold to the washing machine. I believe which disappear around the back. I can only assume that the hot water feed isn’t connected to anything so we’re gonna be getting rid of some dead legs cut it all out and if the plumbing is that bad inside this unit then I can only imagine what it’s like behind the washing machine.

So it’s time to disconnect the pipework as we’re gonna cut it all back and try and simplify the system as much as possible. after taking the trap off and catching the water in my foldable Derblaue bucket, the pipe was able to pull straight out of the fitting in behind the unit so let’s take the washing machine out and have a little look behind.

So we can see the two hot and cold pipes that swing around these as you can see are just wobbling about there’s no support in any other pipework and the hot pipe isn’t connected to causing a massive dead leg. The washing machine trap feels solid and the fall is going uphill. After taking that apart we’re gonna adapt onto that and probably drill a new hole through the unit into the kitchen sink.

The pipe is coming out of the boxing in a bit of an angle. I don’t know how that ceiling on the inside but to adapt onto it I’m gonna have to heat up the pipe and give it a little bend as it’s not 45°. A quick squirrel with the blow lamp over the pipe whilst spinning it means that you don’t burn the pipe and give it a gentle heat to the right temperature for bending. Using a compression joiner, I can clean up the old pipe tighten the connection on and insert a new pipework which now has a fall.

The copper pipework is all cut out disconnected for the hot feed. I’ve just placed a new isolation valve and then I’m just going to use a flat face adapter for the flexible hose on the tap. As for the cold water main because the back of the unit is so thin and flimsy my idea is to take the pipe sideways clip up the wall and then attach a new washing machine feed where the hose can come through the back and then connect onto the existing plumbing for the rest of the house and a isolation valve for the tap.

 i’ve connected onto the old watermain with a drain point so we can drain from that again like how we did in the first instance and I almost forgot to put the tea for the kitchen sink so I sold it up all the connections after bending using my Monument tools bender and then swap it out for a tee to our sink tap connection.

Now that the hot and the cold are done the waste pipe we can just install a new trap onto the sink with a connection point for the washing machine and we’re just glue a new elbow onto our new pipe that we’ve installed. I think you can agree that the system is so much more simpler.
