The crucial meeting held on September 17 on the Naga political issue between the Core Committee on Naga political issue and NSCN (IM) leadership seems to have concluded on a positive note. After the two and a half hour closed door meeting, UDA Chairman TR Zeliang, while talking to media persons said that NSCN (IM) has agreed to resume talks with the centre. Zeliang informed the media that NSCN (IM) is willing to resume the peace talks on the condition that the talks should be based on the Framework Agreement (FA) and the formulation papers submitted by both RN Ravi and AK Mishra altogether. Zeliang stated that the NSCN (I-M) delegation’s contention was that they were unhappy with centre’s representative AK Mishra for ‘Omitting some of the important political points which were included in the formulation papers’ earlier prepared by then Interlocutor RN Ravi. Meanwhile, talking to the media, NSCN (I-M) Member Collective Leadership, RH Raising made it clear that the ball was in the court of the Government of India and not CCONPI or the NSCN (I-M). Raising said that it is a call to be taken by the Indian government and the faction is waiting for the response of the centre. Reportedly, a NSCN delegation is likely to visit New Delhi soon for a meeting with the central leadership
