History of White Linen Night

Описание к видео History of White Linen Night

In 1994, the first official White Linen Night event took place on Julia Street with the efforts of only a few galleries located in the Warehouse District. The event was created in an effort to bring people to the galleries during a time when business in New Orleans was (and still can be) incredible slow due to intense heat and humidity. The success of the event became evident immediately with over 7,000 people attending. A few years after its inception by the Warehouse District Association (now the Arts District of New Orleans Association) they realized it had the potential to become a fundraising event, which resulted in the partnership with the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans.

This year the Arts District of New Orleans, Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans and title sponsor Hancock Whitney commemorate 25 years of experiencing art, building community, and celebrating culture in the Arts District of New Orleans on August 3, 2019! Hancock Whitney White Linen Night is an annual outdoor celebration of art and artists in the Arts District New Orleans, featuring gallery openings, public art displays, food vendors, and much more! Proceeds from the event support the Contemporary Arts Center.
