As a disabled artist, the idea that somehow my disabilities and mental illnesses make me a better artist has been a sort of shadow, shaping what others expect from me and what I expect from myself. And for awhile, I thought that it was true. But turns out there's a lot more to the connection between madness and genius than I thought. So today we're going to talk about why no, your art isn't better because you're suffering and how we need to stop looking at it that way.
