The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, came alive on December 26, 2025, as the Dutsepe Carnival, popularly known as Gbagyi Day, unfolded in a spectacular celebration of culture, identity, and national heritage. Marked by vibrant colors, rhythmic drumbeats, and captivating performances, the carnival offered an immersive showcase of the rich traditions of the Gbagyi people—one of Nigeria’s indigenous communities whose history is deeply intertwined with the land that now hosts the nation’s capital.
For the Gbagyi community, Dutsepe is far more than an annual festivity. It is a powerful affirmation of identity, unity, and ancestral values preserved through generations.
