One additional tip on why vision is essential:

Knowing the vision of the PM role helps you while interviewing because you know what skills to focus on.

For example, you're interviewing for a PM role and the vision for the role is for a PM to come in, create a structure for their projects, and help them get organized.

With that vision in mind, during the interview, you will highlight your organizational skills. Imagine if you didn't know the vision for the role, you might be highlighting your communication skills and sell yourself short.
