Le Storie del Design | Gli anni Settanta e Ottanta. Con Alessandro Mendini

Un ciclo di incontri per scoprire i protagonisti, le idee e i progetti che hanno trasformato il design italiano negli ultimi anni.
All’inizio degli anni ’70 nascevano insieme due fenomeni apparentemente di segno opposto: la Tendenza di Aldo Rossi e il Movimento Radical. La Tendenza con un secco ritorno all’utopia del Classicismo, i Radical con l’utopia arcadica e anti accademica del ritorno al valore dei Mestieri. Nel quarto incontro Alessandro Mendini approfondisce come il contesto di quegli anni è costituito da importantissimi avvenimenti che hanno segnato una profonda trasformazione del mondo: l’uomo sulla luna, l’assassinio di Aldo Moro, il Living Theatre, il Walkmann di Sony del 1979, le Città Invisibili di Calvino, il Nome della Rosa di Umberto Eco.

A series of seminars introducing the protagonists, the ideas and the projects that have transformed Italian design in recent years.
The early Seventies saw the birth of two apparently contrasting phenomena: Aldo Rossi’s Tendenza and the Radical Movement. Tendenza with a clear return to the Utopia of Classicism and the Radicals with the Arcadian and anti-academic Utopia of a return to craft values. In the fourth seminar Alessandro Mendini shall be exploring how the context of that period was made up of crucial events that marked a profound transformation of the world: the man on the moon, the assassination of Aldo Moro, the Living Theatre, the Sony Walkman from 1979, Calvino’s Città Invisibili, and Umberto Eco’s Il Nome della Rosa.
