Dr. Don Yarbrough grew up in Calhoun County graduating from Donoho High School. He went on to study Biology at Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate degree and then graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham for medical school in 2000.

He completed his general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and then spent time back at UAB studying minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. At this time, he was also a faculty member.

Before returning to Calhoun County, he practiced at Appledore Medical Group in New Hampshire, serving as Chief of Surgery and Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program. He also was the Director of Surgical Quality and Safety, Medical Director of General Surgery, Chief of surgery, and Medical Director of the MBSAQIP Comprehensive Bariatric Program at Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis Oregon.
