1. Preparing the Dough:
Add 1 cup (about 180g) of sooji (rava) and salt to taste [00:39].

2. Preparing the Filling:
Soak ½ a cup of chana dal (split chickpeas) for 2-3 hours [01:38].
Drain the water and grind the dal with green chilies, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, and black peppercorns into a coarse paste [01:58].
Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, garam masala, and chopped coriander leaves to the dal paste and mix well [02:56].
3. Assembling and Steaming:
Roll a portion of the dough into a thick roti. Cut out small, round discs using a cutter or glass [03:55].
Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each disc and fold it into a semi-circle, sealing the edges [04:29].
Arrange the dal fara on a greased steamer plate [05:06].
Steam on a medium flame for 7-8 minutes [05:47].
4. Tempering and Serving:
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves [06:48].
Add the steamed dal fara and toss gently to coat them with the tempering [07:07].
Sprinkle with chili flakes and chopped coriander leaves [07:26].
Serve hot with chutney or sauce [07:49].
