A year ago, the West Perry Mustangs handed Susquehanna Township one of those humbling losses that sticks around and gets brought up whenever playoff talk starts. But let’s be real—this isn’t last year’s Hanna team and Torin Evans and company made sure everybody understood that.
Evans didn’t just play quarterback; he flat-out dominated the game. On just 17 passes, he stacked up 192 yards and three touchdowns. And when West Perry thought they had him bottled up, he hit them with 137 rushing yards, two more scores, and a 73-yard dash that felt more like a track meet than a football play. That’s not game managing—that’s game-breaking.
The beauty of Susquehanna is that it’s not a one-man show. Running back Rakhi Seville kept the ground game rolling with 63 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. He’s been on a tear, posting multiple scores in each of his last three games. And wideout Josh Nengite looked like a future college star the moment he stepped on the field. The Temple commit imposed his 6′4 frame on defensive backs all night, pulling in two touchdowns and proving he’s more than just a defensive prospect.
The Tribe has not just been playing well on offense. Defensive Coordinator Tim Hume has the Tribe playing fast and physical.
“This group is built different. They play for each other and hold each other accountable on the field. It has really been a pleasure watching these young men fly to the football and play with a chip on their shoulder” said Hume.
Four games in, and Susquehanna is only giving up 6.8 points a night. You can’t ask for a better complement to an offense that’s blowing the doors off teams. Put simply: this team is winning by knockout, not decision.
With Evans shredding defenses, Nengite towering over secondaries, Seville punching in scores, and a defense that smothers opponents, this team isn’t just chasing respect. They’re demanding it.
Now, Hanna sits at 4-0 with every victory coming in blowout fashion. But waiting this Thursday is an unbeaten Steel-High squad that never backs down. It’s the kind of early-season showdown that will tell us if Township is just on a hot streak, or if this is a team built for something bigger.
