THE QUEERTY INTERVIEW: The cast of The Politician

Sex happens in politics. The new Netflix series The Politician, as produced by Ryan Murphy, knows as much…even when it comes to high school politics.

The show follows the troubled class presidential campaign of closet case Peyton Hobart (Ben Platt, of Dear Evan Hansen) who will stop at nothing from realizing his political dreams. That comes much to the confoundment of his rival Astrid (Lucy Boynton), class activist Skye (Rahne Jones) and his campaign manager McAffee (Laura Dreyfuss). His dead tutor/boyfriend River (David Corenswet) has a few things to say about it too.

David Reddish of Queerty caught up with the cast of The Politician just ahead of its September 27 debut to discuss the sexual politics of the show, their characters and a few other pop culture touchstones…with some very funny results.
