A Living Sacrifice, "Starting the Year with God," FPC Modern Service, 1/25/26, 4/5

Beginning with a reflection on inward renewal - the cleansing of the heart - as described in Psalm 51, emphasizing God's initiative in purifying his people. Moving then to the Romans passage, highlighting the call to offer ourselves as a 'living sacrifice,' holy and pleasing to God.

Daily obedience is an act of worship. Transformation involves both heart and active. God's spirit empowers us for faithful living.

There is a natural flow from internal renewal to outward expression, reinforcing the Reformed understanding of sanctification as God-enabled. The key point directs the congregation to live in surrender, trusting God to shape their thoughts, actions, and desires throughout the year.
