How to know what you can tow (and haul) LEGALLY

Figuring out what your truck can haul and tow can seem confusing, but it really isn't too complicated once you understand a few things....

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
This is the maximum your truck or trailer can weigh by themselves with a load on. The manufacturer will put this number on a sticker on the vehicle and trailer.

Curb Weight (Empty Weight)
What the truck or trailer weighs without the payload(gravel, machinery, dirt, etc)

Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR)
This is the maximum your truck AND trailer can weigh together when loaded

Once you know what your Gross Ratings and Curb Weights are, you simply subtract them to find what you can haul/tow (your payload)
