National Estralita in Open D Redux

Here’s the thing about slide guitar...

It’s totally irrelevant whether you use a resophonic guitar or not
(although for the record, in this video
I’m playing a 2001 National Resophonic Estralita Deluxe).

In fact, some of my favorite slide playing was done
on a regular acoustic guitar
like those Ry Cooder solos on the albums Paradise and Lunch.

The secret is combining closed and open position
like Ry Cooder does
when he solos in open d tuning.
