Edward Thomas - The WW1 Poet

Описание к видео Edward Thomas - The WW1 Poet

Philip Edward Thomas (3 March 1878 – 9 April 1917) is commonly considered as a war poet, although few of his poems deal directly with his war experiences. His career in poetry only came after he had already been a successful writer, essayist, novelist and literary critic.

While at the beginning of WW1 he was unsure if to join, by 1915 he decided to enlist in the Artists Rifles, a regiment well known for its writers, painters and other scholars.

Edward was killed in action at the beginning of the Battle of Arras in April 1917, not long after he had arrived in France.
