This is the Extended Family Version coverage of the 40th “Ruby” Wedding Anniversary of our Favorite Atenean, Kuya Butch Serrano and our Favorite Ate Sonia nee Ravalo, held at the Elks Club Corinthian Gardens, Makati City last January 20, 2019)
“Our invited guests are less than a hundred. Just the Serrano and Ravalo families with a few close friends,” our favorite Atenean Kuya Butch intimated to his much younger and pogier brother. “Got that, ser, replied the brother. For a very sociable couple, and after four decades in their eventful, distinguished and colorful lives, both on a personal basis and as a couple, I could emphasize how difficult it probably was to make that decision of keeping such a lean guest list. It could be very well be 1,000, or even 10,000 guests but that would not be an intimate celebration already.
So the affair proceeded as a very personal, fun and intimate milestone event. No unnecessary pressure, no strangers around, no hassle whatsoever. Even some “waley" jokes and forgivable miscues were applauded and cheered by everyone. Or so it seemed. And the slightly impromptu program did not disappoint, what with accomplished performers in both song and dances, soloists and vocal or dance groups, alike, took to the floor in turn. There certainly wasn’t any need to call on anyone twice (read: pilitin) to render a number or two, although some volunteering to sing a song or two were somehow politely declined by the involved audience. Joke.
While this coverage may be called an “extended version” already, it was difficult to keep the video in just 30 minutes, as there were so many fun moments and truly entertaining numbers during the whole night. Even when you may call the audience a rather lean one by the couple’s usual standards, it was difficult to stem the tide of great performers who gamely took centre stage, from the young ones to the not so young anymore, there was plenty of talent from where they came from. The tykes or the 3rd generation Ravalos were truly so adorable, namely Kallee, Wacjee, Em, Ji, Carlos and Ily. And oh, the rather professional singing group members of the decades old “ELOHIST CHOIR” also awed the crowd, or did we hear oohs and ahhh and sobs and moans.
Considering the fact that some attendees opted to behave and kept and stayed a bit more reserved than usual, to give chance to others, the otherwise flamboyant and talented professional Doctors jokingly remarked, and I’m referring to the Doctors of both the medical and educational fields. Hint Hint.
This is a warm family video that will also fuel the hearts of many aspiring long time sweetheart and couples alike. As we highlighted in our surprise presentation video in 2019, the main protagonists may not be perfect indivuduals, but because of Love and their Love for Family, their Love Story becomes so close to perfect.
