How to Block a Floating Tremolo Bridge Without Power Tools or Drilling | Reversible Guitar Mod

Описание к видео How to Block a Floating Tremolo Bridge Without Power Tools or Drilling | Reversible Guitar Mod

Here’s how to block any floating tremolo bridge, whether it’s double/dual locking or vintage style. Take off the back plate and put some picks on either side of the tone block. In this video I demonstrate the procedure with a Floyd Rose bridge, but this also works for the Ibanez Edge, Lo Pro, Fender Stratocaster style floating bridges, and more.

To do this, you will only need some guitar picks, some tape, and the correct screwdriver to take off the backplate to access the underside of the bridge. Make sure your bridge is properly set up beforehand according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

First, turn the guitar around so you’re looking at the back of it. Unscrew the screws on the perimeter of the backplate and save these for reinstallation. Take off the backplate. See that there’s space on either side of the bridge’s tone block, both towards the edge of the body and towards the inner side.

Take some guitar picks and find the right combination of widths to fit the space that’s on the outer side of the bridge tone block. Once you find this, tape the picks together and slide them into the space.

For the inner side of the tone block, you may need to remove or move the center trem spring. Do this and repeat the process with the picks for the inner space.

Optionally you may take some tissue, foam, or other dampening material to help mute the springs so they don’t ring when the guitar is played with high gain. Finally, replace the backplate with the stock screws and you’re done.
