Woodpeckers phenolic Clamping Cauls bring a trick that's been around for thousands of years into the 21st Century. We've all seen the trick of using a pair of slightly cambered boards on both sides of a panel glue-up to keep the panel flat. A lot of us have tried it and found the cauls flex too much and don't put the necessary squeeze on the boards. You also would not be alone if you accidentally glued your cauls to your project. Woodpeckers phenolic Clamping Cauls are different. First, phenolic is stiffer than wood and the camber machined into the cauls is calculated to exert 225 lbs. of force when they're clamped straight. On top of that, typical woodworking glues won't adhere to phenolic, so you don't have to worry about squeeze-out. Once we got these into the shop, we discovered flat panels were just the beginning of the jobs these handy clamping aids can do. They can multiply the efforts of your clamps and put the pressure on points regular clamps just can't reach.
