Race car driver Brewster Baker (Kenny Rogers) befriends a group of children after learning they are orphaned children. They steal auto parts for a corrupt sheriff. Trying to help keep them out of trouble and given their mechanical knowledge, Brewster takes them on has his pit crew. They help Brewster along his comeback trail to race victory again.

Earning $21 million, "Six Pack" was the 40th top Box Office movie of 1982.

"Six Pack" featured real race footage from the 1982 NASCAR Coca-Cola 500, held at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"Six Pack" also became a spin-off television show featuring Don Johnson, Markie Post, and Joaquin Phoenix.

The theme song, "Love Will Turn You Around", performed and co-written by Kenny Rogers (co-written with Thom Schuyler, David Malloy, & Even Stevens), topped the USA Billboard Country and Adult Contemporary charts and reached #13 on Billboard's Pop chart.
The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
In Canada, the song was #1 on RPM Magazine's Country Tracks for two weeks and was the Number One Single of the Year on the Country charts.
