Everything You Need To Know About The Altered Scale


"Could you talk a little bit more about the altered scale?" i just recently got this question in my Instagram box and i thought! yes ! of course that ´s a great idea!
And it´s really an interesting topic. First of all the term "altered" is used in so many ways. There are altered chords. like an E7b9. But there is also the E7+5 and already the question arises - is that an altered chord too? or am i supposed to play the Whole-Tone scale here?
we tend to derive our scales from our chord symbols ( and that´s called the chord-scale-theory model which came to rise with modern jazz education - and there is nothing wrong with it). but sometimes chord symbols can be misleading. and it´s good if we can make a distinction between harmony and melody when it comes to music theory..

so that´s what i am going to be talking about in this video.
BUT of course i am also going to show you exactly what the altered scale is, how you can use it and how you can practice it.
