The days I start by thumbing my way past post after video after update after this,that,and the other…. Yeah, those are always the days my mental health takes a hit.

Waiting an hour after waking before picking up my phone has been a life altering practice that’s only made me feel ✨good.✨ That said, I’m honestly embarrassed by how difficult it is to fill that gap until I can finally pick up my phone again. Old habits die hard I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️

Luckily, there are a few things I’ve found to be simple and lovely additions to my morning routine that I’d highly recommend you try for yourself (maybe even after you read this post? It’s never too late to start!)

✨Silent Reading Time: Instead of diving into emails or social media posts, pick up a physical book, magazine, or newspaper and enjoy some analog reading time.

✨Outdoor Time: Get outside for a jog, walk, or simply enjoy your morning beverage on the porch. Fresh air and natural light can improve your mood and increase your sense of well-being.

✨Plant Care: If you share your home with any houseplants, tend to them as part of your routine. This nurturing activity can be therapeutic and grounding.

✨Meditate: Begin your day with a short meditation session. This practice can help you center yourself, reduce stress, and set a calm tone for the day ahead.

✨Visualization: Spend a few minutes visualizing your goals, aspirations, or a positive outcome for the day. This mental exercise can boost motivation.

Or feel free to spend exactly one minute with your eyes closed while you fully enjoy your coffee while it’s still hot. Smell it, feel it’s warmth on your hands-drink in the experience.
