Part 4: Making an Orbital Star Quilt

Today I am sewing together all the pieced strips made in the previous video to make the star points.

Lay out all the strips in the order in which you want to sew them, then on the back of the fabric, mark 1/4” with a Chaco pencil or any water erasable marking pen.
This line makes it much easier to pin and match the points.
I use Clover Fine Patchwork pins because I like to leave them in and sew over, making sure the points stay together.

Are all my points perfect? Umm no.
Will I unpick? Probably not.

My opinion is - once it is all sewn together no one will notice a slightly mismatched seam. Aim for perfection and then close enough is good enough 😊

This version of my Orbital Star quilt will use only 8 different fabrics compared to the original that used 15.
