Arthur Muise's Trip to Nenagh - Devon's Tune of the Day 111

Happy to have my wife Dejah join me on guitar for this Cape Breton flavored Irish tune composed by Seán Ryan! I've been playing a lot of Ryan's tunes and they're just so fun and well built. I got this version of his tune "Trip to Nenagh" from the legendary Acadian fiddler Arthur Muise of Chéticamp. I'm not sure that Chéticamp Acadian fiddling is that different from Cape Breton's Scottish fiddling tradition, but I get a general feeling that there's some Acadian syncopation tucked away in there somewhere. Plus what's fascinating is that Muise plays this almost exactly like it was originally written by Seán Ryan. I actually bought my Ryan tunebook in Chéticamp when I was a kid! It was for sale at Charlie's Country Music Store, which was probably the best record store on the island. Also, interestingly, it was run by Charles Joseph dit Charlie Joe Larade, who might have been related to the great Chéticamp singer and fiddler Joseph Larade? What a small word this is for fiddling!

Here's the original versiopn from Arthur Muise. I play it exactly from his version in this home video from 2008, but I can't quite get the marvels of his bowing. It's just so wonderful.
