HCSO Employee Spotlight: K9 Deputy Ted Dahlin & K9 Kyra

Deputy Dahlin and his K-9 partner Kyra, have worked together at the HCSO for nearly 4 years. She is one of 4 explosive/mobile odor detection dogs. Deputy Dahlin has 13 years of experience working with K-9s, including his time as a Precinct 4 Deputy Constable.

Kyra is trained to find explosives, which are person-borne and/or moving. She has worked many major events including Super Bowl 51, The World Series, the Houston Marathon, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

"My favorite part of this job is, I mean, I get paid to play with dogs. They don't care where we eat lunch and they don't complain. They want a toy and a little bit of affection. That's about it,” said Dahlin.
