Gold Panning at Sweden's First Gold Mine | Ädelfors

I went to Ädelfors in the south of Sweden intending to become a rich man. Instead, I walked away with new experiences and lots of information about the site of Sweden's first gold mine.

Gold has been mined in Ädelfors since 1741, but the mine closed in the late 1800s due to a lack of profitability. There's definitely gold in this location in other words, and I actually managed to find some small specks of gold myself.

Follow me as I learn how to pan for gold. Guldström, the company behind this panning site, has been making gold hunting equipment for 25 years - and the site has been a tourist attraction for many years. The instructors not only teach you how to pan for gold; they also give you a lot of useful information about the formation of gold veins.

I might not be able to quit my day job after this day of gold panning, but I'm definitely leaving Ädelfors richer in other ways!
