So my XM4 has just started making this weird, random high pitched noise.
here's how I fixed it, it's quite simple and doesn't require any tools. Hope it helps !

Note: if that black filter is not decomposing and is still clean and well glued, you may not need to remove it. Just cleaning the mic and the housing would do the job.

if this does not fix the issue, then the mic is probably dead, and you'll need to find another electret microphone to replace it.
