Over the years BTDT has emerged as a large community. We realized that the community is interested in developing a deeper academic interest in the issues faced by the Himalayas. In order to quench this thirst for knowledge we are doing live sessions with leading global academics on social and cultural issues. Thus we came up with the idea of "Understanding Uttarakhand Series".

About the Episode:
An interesting session on the women of Uttarakhand, throwing some light over the culture and the issues faced by them. This talk was given by Prof. Karin Polit , Head Department of Anthropology , Asien - Orient Institut, University of Tubingen, Germany. She spent a long time in the mountains and has written extensively on Uttarakhand's culture.

About the Group:
Been There Doon That is a Dehradun based group that works with communities across Uttarakhand for walking and slow tourism and heritage awareness. We are a 50,000 strong community on social media and also do weekly heritage/ nature/ food walks in Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh and Haridwar. The citizen's group began in the year 2014 and is now venturing onto various platforms to raise awareness and exchange knowledge on the nature, heritage, arts and culture of the Himalayan region.
