our specimen is not a major ,but ordinary worker.
Only in dimorphic and polymorphic species. In monomorphic species all individual of the colony except for males and the Queen are of same size.

Large ants indigenous to many forested parts of the world. They build nests inside wood consisting of galleries chewed out with their mandibles, preferably in dead, damp wood. However, unlike termites, they do not consume wood, discarding a material that resembles sawdust.

The green aphids secrete sweet honey dews which the ants feed on. In turn the ants look after the aphids by protecting them against the potential predators.

Ants not only feed on the honeydew secreted by aphides but also transplant them on growing plant tips. The best control for aphides is larvae of ladybird beetles.
