Devotion to the Lord and total surrender lead to purification of the individual jiva and the heart experiences an unparalleled joy. This leads to the individual’s redemption and the person becomes a source of inspiration for everyone around. How can we realise God while being on the path of devotion? We see this through the story of Saint Bhadrachala Ramadas.

When Ramadas took up a job with king Tanashah, soaked in the nectar of devotion, he was posted as Tahsildar of Palavanch Pargana. During a tour when he reached Bhadrachala, he noticed a temple in dilapidated condition. He collected contributions and donations to take up the restoration of the temple. However, the funds were inadequate and the restoration could not be completed. People suggested borrowing money from the royal depository. The borrowing would be returned at the time of the next harvest. It so happened that the next harvest wasn’t good and people did not have money to repay the loan. This angered Tanashah and he imprisoned Ramadas. A fearless prisoner, Ramadas would keep singing glories of his Lord. To know what became of this devotee prisoner – do not miss this episode !
