I have had 2 of these Epiphone Explorers now, for a few years. They are great guitars. Made of mahogany body and neck, using set-neck construction, a rosewood fingerboard and a pair of powerful EMG 81 and 85 pickups, these guitars are a Metallica fans dream! They are a throwback to the Gibsons James Hetfield would play in the 80s, with no pickguard. They are as sleek as a guitar comes, and pack the punch you wish for in a guitar that looks like this.
The sustain on these guitars is monstrous, and with some proper gain, they scream. When used on a clean channel, the bridge and neck pickup compliment each other (almost too well) and give you amazing, different tones in all 3 pickup selector positions.
