After the hospital that Angela was confined in burns to the ground, Anna presumes that her sister was one of the casualties. Unknown to her, Angela is alive but was kidnapped by a crime syndicate prior to the fire. Feeling hopeless and desperate, Anna decides to resort to prostitution in order to survive.

Through some stroke of luck, Anna encounters a kindly, rich gay man named Ronaldo Valera on her supposed first day in the sex trade. Ronaldo decides to adopt her and change her name to Victoria to usher in luck and a life of victorious endeavors. Angela, on the other hand, finds a new home herself when she escapes from the syndicate and ends up in the care of Hermes and Sonia, a working class couple from Divisoria.
