Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said environmental pollution is among the biggest challenges facing the world and expressed concern over Delhi’s poor Air Quality Index. He said such conditions result from tampering with nature and neglecting environmental responsibilities. Referring to Delhi, he described life there as “suffocating,” comparing it to a gas chamber, and noted complaints of eye irritation and breathing difficulties. He added that doctors advise the elderly, children and those who are unwell to stay indoors when pollution levels rise. Speaking at the inauguration of the renovated Block Development Officer’s office and the city’s fifth Kalyan Mandapam in Gorakhpur, he contrasted Delhi’s situation with Gorakhpur’s environment, calling it clean and healthy. He also highlighted the proposed forestry university in Campierganj as a long-term step to address environmental challenges.
