Mark O'Connor often sat in with Les Paul after this first meeting at Paul's legendary Monday night shows in NYC at The Iridium. Paul's accompanying guitarist, Frank Vignola, also played guitar with O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio, and suggested to Les Paul that O'Connor sit in. This began a long relationship between the two musicians, with Les inviting O'Connor to sit in every chance he could. For years, O'Connor knew where to show up on a Monday night in Manhattan—probably not a bigger fan of jazz violin than Les Paul.
