Описание к видео Meditation and Eye Health: Insights from Dr. Shailesh G. M. | Shekar Eye Hospital

In this video, Dr. Shailesh G. M., Senior Consultant at Shekar Eye Hospital, discusses the connection between meditation and eye health.

Meditation has become a common practice, known for improving overall well-being by calming the mind and strengthening the body. Since the eyes are part of the body, they too can benefit to some extent from meditation. Techniques like warm compresses or rubbing the hands and placing them gently over the eyes can provide relief and improve general comfort. In some cases, this may even help unblock oil glands, improve glandular secretion, and enhance clarity of vision temporarily. Strengthening eye muscles through focusing exercises may help delay or even avoid surgical intervention for conditions like squint.

For those in IT or screen-heavy professions, meditation combined with regular rest breaks and eye exercises can improve focus and reduce strain. However, individuals with glaucoma should avoid certain postures, such as Shirshasana (headstands), as these can increase eye pressure and potentially harm the optic nerve.

It’s also important to avoid using unverified medications or oils not prescribed by qualified professionals. While meditation can bring comfort and relaxation to the eyes, it is not a miracle cure for vision issues. Regular check-ups with an eye care professional are essential to monitor and maintain eye health.
