Ismail Haniyeh Death: Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a raid on his residence in Tehran. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman says the assassinated Hamas leader’s blood will never be wasted. This comes less than 24 hours after an Israeli strike in Beirut. The Israeli military described the attack as a “targeted assassination operation” against a Hezbollah commander.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said the cause of the "incident" was not immediately clear but was "being investigated".
Haniyeh, 62, was widely considered Hamas's overall leader.
He was a prominent member of the group's movement in the late 1980s and was imprisoned by Israel for three years in 1989 as it cracked down on the first Palestinian uprising. He was then exiled in 1992 to a no-man's-land between Israel and Lebanon, along with several Hamas leaders. He was appointed the political chief of Hamas in 2017 and has been living in Doha and Turkey since then.
