Paralleling Transformers | Overview | Part One

Part 1 is an overview of paralleling transformers, which provides some important concepts that one needs to understand and keep in mind when dealing with transformers in parallel. In other parts of this video series, different examples will be provided to illustrate the impact of certain parameters such as impedance, turns ratio…on load sharing amongst paralleled transformers. Placing a delta-wye transformer in parallel with a wye-wye transformer will cause circulating current to flow in the parallel loop due to the phase shift difference. Also, paralleling two transformers with different impedances could lead the transformer with lowest impedance to overload.
