Spotlight Series 1 - Sarvepalli Sisters - 'enta mAtramuna' - a Tallapaka Annamacharya kriti

Having travelled world over performing and conducting workshops for youngsters and others aspiring to excel in music, I was so impressed by the talent that lay within each of them. I was convinced that there must be a better platform for them to showcase their music and thus was born the idea of ‘Spotlight’! To put a spotlight on their talents and present them to the world.

The golden period of music distribution was when we had cassettes, double albums and video discs released. But as technology has progressed and widened the reach in such a simplified manner, physical releases seem to have got redundant.

Social media has the most widespread reach and the ability to multiply its viewers with ease. Hence this mode of presenting talent from Sudhaarnava Academy.

The first in the Spotlight Series features the Sarvepalli Sisters – Sreya and Rajalakshmi, senior students of Sudhaarnava Academy. They have been accompanied by CS. Chinmayi on the violin, B. Hariharan on the flute, N Ramakrishnan on the mridangam, B Ganesh Rao on the table and phakwaj, with music composed by S. Harikrishnan.

Launching on Tamil New Year's Day, I could not think of a more befitting way to welcome the new year with new talents, with more power to music by creating strong legacies that sing the praise of the Almighty with pristine music. Here is a composition of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya. Please encourage this young duo. Today’s talent is tomorrow’s leg acy. And our music will continue over generations, enriching and getting enriched by the music learners and music lovers.
