Each year, at 3 Regional Control Centres in Dublin, Limerick and Castlebar, the Irish Fire Service receives over 50,000 emergency calls. With its mandate to protect communities and save lives, the ability of the Irish Fire Service to respond rapidly to incidents, command operational assets, and coordinate effectively with other first responder agencies, effective and resilient communication is paramount.

CTRÍ was a major 4-year project with a clear objective; To improve the quality and resilience of Fire Services communications across Ireland. At its core this meant

· migration of all Fire communications from legacy analogue systems onto the TETRA digital platform.

· design and implementation of a single, national platform for Command and Control.

· and development of a common, operating process and consistent standards of national operational intelligence.

With 218 Fire stations and 850 mobile resources and X Fire Service Personnel to train, the preparation, training and phasing of the CTRÍ migration to TETRA was a massive undertaking. The CTRÍ project and roll-out of TETRA has delivered a significant step forward for the Irish Fire Service. To date, operational feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

CTRÍ was characterised by collaboration. CRTÍ and TETRA Ireland worked together to select the right technology, design optimal systems and processes, and provide phased training, roll-out and exhaustive testing. At each stage of the migration, the project team worked in close partnership, addressing any issues arising and delivering solutions and systems that will best enable the Irish Fire Service to fulfil its mission into the future.
